The Arlington County, Virginia, board voted Saturday to not advertise an increase in the base real estate property tax rate for 2021. The board elected not to fight for an increase in the property tax, keeping it at $1.013 per $100 of its assessed value for this calendar year. Arlington County has decided to take applications for up to 120 grants worth $10,000. These grants will be given to small businesses and nonprofits in the county affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The grants will be given to selected candidates who will be chosen through a competitive process. Recently, the Arlington County Board approved the Emergency GRANT (Giving Resiliency Assets Near Term) Program to provide immediate financial assistance to small businesses and nonprofits.
